What are essential oils?
Essential oils derive from plants that are aromatic, highly concentrated, with volatile extracts. They are found in the plant’s leaves, fruits, wood, seeds, roots and flowers.
Essential oils are the most concentrated and potent of all plant extracts, or its’ life force. They are approximately 75-100 times more concentrated than dried herbs. Therefore, you use only small concentrations are used in massage and skincare.
How do essential oils work?
On a physical level: for antiseptic and immune system stimulants. It is excellent for first aid (coughs, colds, bites, itches, etc.). It rejuvenates, tones and balances the skin. They are the most potent form of herbal energy.
On an emotional level: for stimulating memories (both consciously and subconsciously). Fights depression, grief, and stress-related disorders.
On a cellular level: for wound healing, scar repairing, tissue stimulating and barrier regulating for the skin. Maintains the optimum moisture of the skin and reduce infections. Lavender and geranium are two oils that work on this cellular level.
On a spiritual level: for ritual, prayer, purification, magic, mysticism, celebration and meditation purposes. They have been used by every major culture and society for over 10,000 years.
I use essential oils in my homemade skincare products (contact me for to determine your personal skin type and the appropriate recipes to make your own skincare products). I also love two of NYR Organics Remedies to Roll.
